SCHOOL
What does Mahwah High School offer academically for your child?
Depending on what your child decides to focus on there is an array of courses for them to choose from. For example if they are interested in business there are 10 courses to choose from. Including specialty courses like International Business and Sports and Entertainment Management. There are business honors and AP classes as well. If they are interested in literature Mahwah High School offers 23 different classes pertaining to literature. Some courses to choose from are Digital Media, Effective communication and Film as literature. If they don’t know what field they are interested in pursing there are over 100 courses to choose from. The options are endless. There is woodworking, robotics, AP classes, and college credit courses. They can go to Mahwah High School and decide on what interested them. Options like this aren’t offered everywhere. They should take advantage of the diverse aspects of the curriculum offered.
COMMUNITY
Your child has spent 9 years building bonds with friends and forming relationships in the Mahwah public schools. He has also spent many of those years playing hockey with children from Mahwah. They have built something together, formed a brotherhood. The children may play travel hockey in the fall, but in the spring they play for Mahwah. Why? Because they support each other. Its not cutthroat program. The players have spent years building something, why stop now. Lets see where we could take the program together. The MIHA and the HS coaches support each other. We are in constant communication. We know the needs of the players and work together to support on another.
HOCKEY
As I stated above, The MIHA and the HS coaches support each other. We are in constant communication and know the needs of the players and work we together and support one another. Our coaches are second to none. We have had a successful hockey team for several years. The team has won their division for 3 years in a row. There is no reason why this shouldn’t continue. In fact, with the talent we have in our system, we could be even better. Our HS coaches run a professional program. Their goal is to develop the players.
We realize that for some getting an athletic scholarship is their best chance at getting a quality college education. Our coaches know and understand that. School comes first and they are there to support students in any way they can. Some of our past hockey players have gone onto in college prep schools. There are some who play hockey in college.
The Mahwah High School Hockey Team plays in a competitive league that allows hockey players to play on a team with classmates and friends. Talented high school hockey players may also have the option to further pursue their hockey dreams. They can do that playing for Mahwah High School. You don’t necessarily have to pay thousands of dollars for your child to play on a quality hockey team. They can experience it all playing for their hometown!
